Step 1: Blot Up Any Excess Liquid

As soon as you realize you’ve spilled sparkling wine on your shoes, take a piece of clean cloth, paper towel, or a sponge and dab away as much liquid as you can. As tempting as it may be, do not rub or scrub the stain, as this will only spread the stain instead of lifting it away.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Mix a solution of 1/3 cup white vinegar and 2/3 cup of water, and pour it into a bowl. Dip a clean cloth into the solution, wringing it out so that it’s lightly damp and not dripping.

Step 3: Attack the Stain

Gently dab the stained area with the damp cloth until you have worked the cleaning solution into fabric. Be sure to just use light pressure and circles when cleaning, as vigorous scrubbing could damage the shoe’s fabric.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

Rinse the stained area with cold water, then blot it with a dry cloth to remove any remaining moisture. Allow the shoes to air dry completely at room temperature before wearing again.
