Club soda is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think of removing a sparkling wine stain from satin. It’s certainly an effective method – but there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. To use club soda correctly, begin by blotting up as much of spilled liquid as possible. Then, pour club soda directly onto the stain, allowing it to sit on the fabric for several minutes. Finally, blot the area with a clean, white cloth until the stain is gone.
If the club soda trick doesn’t work, try using a gentle detergent. Begin by blotting up spilled sparkling wine as before. Then, combine mild detergent with warm water to create a soapy solution. Use a damp cloth to blot the solution onto stain. Let it sit for several minutes, then rinse with cold water and blot dry with a clean cloth.
If all else fails, it’s always best to take satin fabric to the dry cleaner. A professional will be able to take care of the stain without damaging the fabric. This is especially important if you have an expensive or delicate piece of clothing with a stained section.
It’s also important to practice prevention when it comes to stains. Cover upholstered surfaces with plastic while serving sparkling wine, and use coasters to protect surfaces. If a spill does occur, act quickly by blotting the area with a clean cloth and following instructions above.
