What You Need:

  • ½ cup of warm water
  • ¼ cup of white vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon of liquid dish detergent
  • Clean cloths

Step One: Soak it Up

The first step to removing a sparkling wine stain is to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. This will help prevent the stain from setting into fabric. Use a cloth to blot the stain gently, starting at the edges and working your way inwards.

Step Two: Mix Your Solution

Once you've blotted away as much of the liquid as you can, it's time to mix up your cleaning solution. In a bowl or cup, combine the warm water, white vinegar, and liquid dish detergent. Stir it together until it forms a paste.

Step Three: Apply the Paste

Now that your solution is ready, it's time to apply it to the stain. Dip a clean cloth or sponge into the paste, and then carefully dab it onto the stain. Be sure to use light strokes so that you don't damage fabric.

Step Four: Let It Sit

Once paste is applied to the stain, let it sit for at least 15 minutes. This will give the solution enough time to do its work and loosen the stain from the fabric.

Step Five: Rinse & Reapply

After 15 minutes, rinse the paste off with cold water and then wipe away any excess moisture with a cloth or towel. If stain is still visible, repeat steps two through four until it is gone.

Finishing Touches

To finish off, allow the raincoat to dry completely before returning it to your wardrobe. This will ensure that no moisture is left behind and will also help to prevent the stain from reappearing.
