Step 1: Act Quickly!

The faster you act, the less time the sparkling wine has to set and dry into the fabric of your bag. Grab some paper towels and blot the area to absorb as much of the liquid as possible.

Step 2: Rinse with Cold Water

If you can, run cold water over the stain to flush away some of remaining moisture. You don’t want to use hot water because it can set the stain.

Step 3: Treat the Stain

Create a mixture of laundry detergent and cold water. Using a soft brush or cloth, gently scrub the stain with the detergent solution. Once you have given the stain a good scrub, rinse again with cold water.

Step 4: Use a Specialized Cleaner

There are some specialized cleaners on the market such Dr. Beckmann Leather & Upholstery Cleaner that are designed to help lift stubborn stains. Follow the instructions on the packaging and work the cleaner into stain until you can no longer see it.

Step 5: Let It Dry

Once you have finished treating the stain, let it dry completely before using your purse. If time allows, hang the bag up in direct sunlight for a few hours to help speed up the drying process.
