Step 1: Blot the Stain

The first step to removing any wine stain is to blot up as much of the liquid as possible. It is important to use a clean, white cloth that won't transfer any dye onto the fabric. Place the cloth over the spot and press firmly without rubbing. If necessary, move cloth around to ensure that all of moisture is soaked up.

Step 2: Apply a Stain Remover

For tougher stains, try applying a stain remover or pre-wash treatment that is specifically made for removing wine stains. These can be found at most grocery stores or pharmacies. Apply treatement according to the directions on the bottle.

Step 3: Launder

Once the stain has been treated, launder the garment as usual using detergent and warm water. Make sure to read the care label on garment to ensure that it can be washed with warm water.

Step 4: Check for Success

Once item is clean, allow it to air-dry. Examine the garment for any traces of the stain. If the stain is still present, repeat the steps above. Once the stain is gone, allow the item to air-dry completely before wearing.
