When trying to remove a sparkling wine stain from piqué fabric, it is best to start by gathering all the supplies you need together in one place. This will ensure that you do not need to leave the job unfinished when you hit a snag. The supplies you will need include:
The first step in removing sparkling wine stains from piqué fabric is to try blotting the stain with an absorbent towel. Make sure to use a white towel so that the dye from the towel does not transfer onto the fabric. Blotting will help to lift the stain before you move onto more intensive methods of removal.
If the stain persists, it's time to reach for some white vinegar. Mixing two cups of water with a tablespoon of white vinegar in a bowl can provide you with a cleaning solution that is safe to use on piqué fabric. Apply mixture onto the stain and gently rub until it disappears. If the stain remains, apply more of the mixture and repeat the rubbing process.
If white vinegar does not do the trick, a combination of dish soap and baking soda may be the solution. Mix two tablespoons of dish soap with two tablespoons of baking soda and mix into a paste. Rub the paste directly into the stain and let sit for fifteen minutes before washing off with cold water. Repeat as necessary until the stain fades away.
This method should only be used as a last resort. Mix equal parts of rubbing alcohol and ammonia in a bowl and apply onto the stain. Scrub the stain with a soft cloth or brush and rinse with cold water. Be sure to use gloves when handling mixture to avoid skin contact.
If all else fails, baby wipes can be used to tackle the stubborn sparkle wine stains. Soak baby wipes with cold water and apply onto the stain. Gently rub the stain with wipes until the stain is removed. Wash the area with cold water afterwards, and allow it to air dry.
