Accessing our Stain

If stain is still fresh and wet, it’s important to blot it with some kitchen towel as soon as possible - being careful not to rub the fabric. We want to ensure we don’t spread the stain further. If the stain has set in, we’ll need to start by lightly dampening the area with water, again being careful not to rub the fabric.

Prepping Our Cleaning Solution

Mix 1- part mild washing up liquid or detergent with 4-parts warm water. The water should be warm but not hot so that we don’t risk any discolouration of the fabric. Once mixed, dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently dab at the stain, being careful not to rub the fabric.

Washing the Stain Away

Once you’ve saturated the stain with the cleaning solution, allow it to soak for 10-15 minutes. Rinse the area with cold water to ensure all the detergent is removed. If the stain has yet to be removed repeat the process until the stain has been completely removed.

Drying and Preserving the Fabric

Pat the area dry with a clean kitchen towel or cloth. Don’t wring the fabric; this could cause the stain to set further. If a slight discolouration remains, mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Apply it onto the stain and allow it to settle for 10-15 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Leave to air dry.
