Start by blotting up any excess liquid with a clean, dry cloth. Then mix one teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent into one cup of warm water. Dip a sponge or cloth into the mixture and then gently blot the stained area until it is saturated. Rinse the stain afterwards with cold water.
If the first method does not work, try a sweat and grease remover. You can find this at your local grocery store. Simply dab a little of the remover directly onto stain from a safe distance. Leave it on for five minutes, then blot it up using a damp cloth.
Sprinkle a small amount of talcum powder over the red wine stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then brush talcum powder off jacket. Most of the stain should come out with it.
Be careful when using certain cleaners while attempting to get rid of the sparkling wine stains. Avoid using vinegar, alcohol, acetone, ammonia or other harsh chemicals. These can damage the material and even set the wine stain permanently.
Sparkling wine can leave behind both water- and oil-based stains. Therefore, you want to identify the type of fabric your jacket is made of before you attempt to clean it. For example, certain fabrics, like wool, require specific cleaning instructions. If done incorrectly, you may end up ruining your beloved coat.
