Deep Cleaning Merino Wool with Sparkling Wine Stains

What You Will Need

  • A sink
  • Soap or detergent
  • Oxygen bleach
  • White vinegar
  • An old towel

Instructions

  1. Begin by soaking the stained area in cold water for about 15 minutes.
  2. Create a solution of warm water and one tablespoon of liquid detergent or soap. Make sure to use a detergent or soap that is specifically made for Merino wool.
  3. Gently rub the stain with a soft brush, being careful not to rub too hard and cause the fabric to fray.
  4. Rinse the stained area in fresh, cold water.
  5. Make a paste of oxygen bleach and one tablespoon of white vinegar, and apply it to stained area.
  6. Let the paste sit on the stain for around 30 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
  7. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps 4-6 until the stain is gone.
  8. Lay the wet fabric on an old towel and roll up the towel to absorb the excess water.
  9. Finally, let the garment air dry.
