It’s important to know the type of fabric your lingerie is made of as this will determine what method you will use to clean the stains. Different fabrics have different properties and require different cleaning techniques. If you are unsure, it’s best to do some research online or take it to a professional dry cleaner.
To begin, blot the stained area with a damp cloth or paper towel. Do not rub the cloth across the fabric as this may spread stain further. Blotting should be done gently and slowly so that the stain is absorbed as much as possible.
Mix a small amount of detergent with cold water and apply it to the stained area. Using a soft bristled brush, gently scrub fabric and the stain should start to come out. Be sure to not scrub too hard as this may damage the delicate fabric. Rinse with cold water and continue until the area is clean.
If the stain still remains, try using club soda instead of detergent. Apply the soda to the area and keep blotting with a damp cloth or paper towel. Repeat this process until the stain has disappeared.
Once the stain is removed, place the lingerie in the washing machine. Use a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent. Hang the lingerie to dry and you should be good to go.
Cleaning sparkling wine stains from lingerie can be daunting, but with a few simple steps and some patience, you can get it looking brand new again. Just remember to always check the fabric before you attempt any stain removal technique and bleach only if absolutely necessary.
