If you’re wearing a beautiful lace dress or blouse and manage to get a splash of sparkling wine on it, don’t be discouraged. Following a few simple steps can help you get it out quickly and easily.

Step 1: Blot the Stain Immediately

Using a clean cloth, blot the stain as much as possible before it has a chance to set. It’s important not to rub, which will only spread the stain and make it more difficult to clean. Absorbing as much of the liquid as possible early is best way to successfully remove all the sparkling wine.

Step 2: Mix a Cleaning Solution

Mix a solution of one part mild detergent and five parts warm water. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and apply it to the stain. Once again, blot rather than rub to avoid spreading the stain. Continue to rotate the cloth and use a fresh portion of it to absorb any additional liquid.

Step 3: Rinse the Stained Area and Dry it

Once you’ve removed as much of the sparkling wine as possible, rinse the stained area using cold water. Blot the area to remove any residue from cleaning process, and allow it to air dry.

Step 4: Use a Stain Remover

If there are any faint traces of the stain remaining, you can use a stain remover designed for lace. Apply a small amount to the affected area, then let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse area with cold water and allow your garment to air dry.
