When you’re enjoying a bottle of sparkling wine, you may find that it can easily stain your kitchen utensils. Whether it’s a glass, bowl, or plate, it’s important to know how to safely and effectively clean these items to prevent staining. Here are a few tips on how to clean sparkling wine stains from kitchen utensils.
If the stains have just occurred, the best course of action is to act quickly. Start by soaking the stained utensils in water. Make sure the water is hot, as this will help loosen any grime and dissolved the wine particles. Let the utensils soak for about 30 minutes before attempting to scrub them clean.
After the utensils have been soaked, it’s time to make use of a fine baking powder. The abrasive nature of the powder means it can work as a gentle scrub when mixed with a small amount of warm water. Be sure to wear gloves when handling the mixture, as it can cause skin irritation.
Once you’ve used the baking powder mixture to scrub away the sparkling wine stains, it’s time to rinse the utensils. Make sure water is warm, as cold water can cause the stains to set in. After rinsing the utensils, pat them dry using a cloth or paper towel.
To prevent sparkling wine stains in your kitchen, it’s important to clean up spills immediately. Don’t let liquid sit for too long and don’t put off cleaning up, as this can lead to more stubborn or difficult-to-remove stains.
Aside from the method described above, you can also use a mixture of warm water and vinegar to dissolve stains. This is an effective way to remove tough sparkling wine stains, however only use it on non-porous materials such as stainless steel or plastic.
