Start off by using an absorbent cloth or sponge to remove any excess liquid. Next, pick a good cleaner to use on the violation. For delicate fabrics such as silk and satin, use a stain remover specifically designed for them. Otherwise, a regular laundry detergent should work just fine. Once you have chosen your cleaning supplies, you can proceed to rinse the garment in lukewarm water.
If the stain is particularly tricky, you can try pretreating it with a special product like Shout or Spray 'n Wash. Simply apply the product directly onto the stain, and then let it sit for 10 minutes before washing. Be sure to check the label of the stain remover, as some may require you to dilute solution first before applying it.
Once the stain is pretreated, if needed, you can now wash the garment. Place the stained garment in the washing machine with a mild detergent and lukewarm water. If the garment is particularly delicate, you may want to handwash it instead. After washing item, leave it to air dry for 10-15 minutes.
Once the garment has been left to dry, inspect it carefully. If the stain is still present, repeat previous steps. If the stain is gone or barely visible, you can then iron the garment to make it look as good as new. And that’s it - you have successfully removed a sparkling wine stain from a formal outfit!
