How to Clean Sparkling Wine Stains from Fleece

  1. Pre-treat the stain with club soda. Dampen a clean cloth with fresh club soda and blot the sparkling wine stain for a few minutes. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.
  2. Create a spot-treating solution. In a bucket or basin, combine two cups of warm water with one teaspoon of liquid detergent and one teaspoon of white vinegar. Mix the ingredients until they are mixed well.
  3. Dampen a clean cloth with the spot-treating solution and blot the stained area. Work solution into fibers of the fleece, being sure to rinse the cloth between blots so you’re not transferring the stain around. Continue working solution into the stain for 10-15 minutes, or until you start to see results.
  4. Rinse the spot-treating solution from the fleece with cool, running water. Be sure to rinse thoroughly so that there’s no residue left.
  5. Soak the stained area in an oxygen-based bleach solution. Mix one tablespoon of oxygen-based bleach with one gallon of cold water in a bucket or basin. Soak the stained area for 30 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with cool running water.
  6. Launder the fleece as normal, following the label’s care instructions. Once the fleece is dry, check the stain. If any remnants remain, repeat steps 1-5.
