No one likes fighting a stain, especially when it comes to special occasions. Whether you were life of the party or found yourself splashed with someone else’s bubbly, getting those sparkling wine stains out of your dress can be a tricky task. But don’t worry—removing champagne stains from clothing isn’t as hard as it seems!

Before attempting to get rid of the stain, you’ll need to identify the fabric in question. Knowing the type of material—whether it’s cotton, silk, or something else—will help determine which cleaning solution works best for you.
If you haven’t already done so, blot the fabric with a clean cloth to remove as much of the sparkling wine as possible before beginning any deep-cleaning processes. Don’t rub the fabric, as this could cause the stain to spread and become more difficult to remove.
Once you’ve identified the type of fabric and blotted the stain, it’s time to make your cleaning solution. For most fabrics (except wool), combine equal parts white vinegar and lukewarm water. For wool, use just the white vinegar.
Using the cloth from earlier, apply the mixture to the stained area until the area is saturated. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. Depending on stain and fabric, you may want to repeat this process. After you’re done, launder the garment as usual.
