If you love hosting special dinners from comfort of your own home, chances are you have used a cutting board for food prep more than a few times. But then, something unexpected happens: you’re in the middle of opening that bottle of sparkling wine and some of it ends up spilling onto your wooden cutting board! It can be an embarrassing moment – but don’t worry, these spills are easier to clean than you think.

Step 1: Wipe down Board Immediately

Once you realize sparkling wine has spilled onto your cutting board, be sure to wipe it off immediately using a dry towel. This will soak up as much of the liquid as possible and prevent stain from setting into the wood.

Step 2: Remove Remaining Stain with a Natural Solution

If the stain is still visible, it can be removed with a combination of baking soda and lemon juice. Mix these two ingredients together until they form a paste, then apply it to the stain. Let this sit for 10-15 minutes before wiping it away with a clean cloth. You should see the stain lift right off!

Step 3: Rinse and Dry

Once all of the stain has been removed, rinse the cutting board with warm water and dry it with a clean towel. Make sure it is completely dry before storing away or using it again.
