How to Get Sparkling Wine Stains Out of Cotton Voile

Accidentally spilling red or white sparkling wine on your favorite cotton voile dress can be a major bummer. Don’t fret! It is possible to remove the stain in several simple steps.

What You Will Need:

  • Liquid detergent
  • Liquid enzyme presoak product
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Color-safe bleach

Step 1: Blot the Stain with a Cloth

As soon as possible, begin to blot stained area with a clean, white cloth or paper towel to remove as much of the sparkling wine as you can.

Step 2: Create a Paste to Treat the Stain

Mix liquid detergent, liquid enzyme presoak product, and hydrogen peroxide together in equal parts to make a paste, then spread it over the sparkling wine stained area.

Step 3: Soak the Stain in White Vinegar

Soak the stained area with white vinegar for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water. This will help to break down and dissolve the stain.

Step 4: Create a Baking Soda Solution

Mix baking soda and warm water together to create a thick paste. Spread the paste over the stain, then let it sit for an additional 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water.

Step 5: Mix Color-Safe Bleach and Water

Mix color-safe bleach and water together in a bowl. Soak stained area in the mixture for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with cold water. For the best results, machine wash your garment separately to prevent any further staining.
