Step 1: Blot up any excess liquid

First and foremost, remove as much of the sparkling wine from the fabric as possible. Using a paper towel or cloth napkin, gently blot up any liquid that remains in the area.

Step 2: Mix equal parts dish soap and baking soda

Mix equal parts dish soap and baking soda in a bowl. This is your pre-treatment solution that will help lift stain.

Step 3: Apply the pre-treatment solution to the stain

Use a brush or sponge to apply mixture onto the stained area. Leave it to rest for 10 minutes before you move on to the next step.

Step 4: Rinse with cold water

Use cold water to rinse off pre-treatment solution and the sparkling wine stain. It's important that you use cold water and not hot water, as heat will actually cause the stain to set in and become more difficult to remove.

Step 5: Wash item

After rinsing area, throw the fabric in the washing machine. Use the hottest water temperature recommended for the fabric and your laundry detergent.

Step 6: Inspect area

Once the item of clothing is done in the wash, inspect the area to make sure stain has been removed. If necessary, repeat above steps until the entire stain is gone.
