When a sparkling wine stain lands on cotton seersucker, best course of action is to act quickly! Because of its delicate fabric, you should never apply any harsh chemicals or scrubbing. Instead, use following tips and tricks to effectively clean the stain.
Using a clean, white cloth, gently blot stained area as soon as possible. This will help to absorb some of the staining liquid, reducing the amount of cleanser you need to use later on.
Mix a solution of warm water and liquid detergent, and then soak the stained area for up to 30 minutes. If the stain has already set in, then you can leave it soaking for longer than 30 minutes. However, you should never leave the fabric soaking for more than an hour.
Once the fabric has been soaked, rinse area with cold water. Make sure to use gentle pressure when rinsing, as you don't want to cause any further damage to the fabric.
If the stain is still visible after steps 1-3, apply a specifically designed stain remover. There are many products available on the market specifically made for removing sparkling wine stains from fabrics. Follow instructions on the product before using.
After applying the stain remover, re-soak the stained area in the warm water and liquid detergent solution (from step 2), then rinse it with cold water again. Repeat this process until the stain has completely disappeared.
Finally, let the fabric air dry completely in an open and well-ventilated space. Do not place the fabric near any direct heat source, as this could potentially cause further damage to the fabric.
