Sparkling wine and cotton poplin are a classic combination, but unfortunately spills and stains can happen. If you have found yourself with a stubborn sparkling wine stain on your cotton poplin fabric, don't panic — there is a way to remove it.
What You Will Need
- A small bowl or cup
- Cold water
- White vinegar
- Dishwashing liquid
- Borax powder
- Baking soda
- Clean white cloths
- Salt
Instructions For Removing A Sparkling Wine Stain
- Mix equal parts of cold water and white vinegar in a bowl or cup.
- Soak a clean white cloth in the mixture.
- Blot the stain with the cloth. Do not rub, as this will cause stain to spread.
- If the stain still persists, mix together a solution of one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, one teaspoon of borax powder, one teaspoon of baking soda and one teaspoon of salt in one cup of cold water.
- Soak a clean, white cloth in the mixture.
- Blot stain with the cloth.
- Rinse area with cold water and blot dry with a clean white cloth.
- If the stain is still present, repeat Steps 3-7 until the stain is completely removed.

- It is best to attend to stain as soon as possible, as old stains are harder to remove.
- Allow the stained area to air-dry before washing the garment.
