What You Will Need

  • A cotton cloth or sponge
  • Cold Water
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • White vinegar (optional)

Steps for Cleaning

  1. Blot up excess wine using a cloth or sponge and cold water (make sure not to rub the stain, as this will only make it worse).
  2. Create a solution of dishwashing liquid and cold water and apply to the stained area.
  3. Allow the solution to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes before gently scrubbing the stain with a cloth or sponge.
  4. Rinse off the soapy mixture with cold water.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 until all traces of the stain are gone.
  6. If the stain is still visible after these steps, mix equal parts white vinegar and cold water and apply to the stain. Allow to sit for 10 minutes then rinse off with cold water.

Additional Tips

  • Always read the care instructions on the label of your garment before attempting to clean it.
  • Make sure to test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area before using on the stain.
  • Avoid using hot water, as this can set stain and make it more difficult to remove.
