What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Old toothbrush
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Baking soda

Step One: Blot Up the Spilled Wine

Once you’ve noticed a sparkling wine stain, the first step is to blot up as much of the spilled liquid as possible using a paper towel or cloth. This will prevent the wine from setting into fibers of the fabric and make it easier to remove.

Step Two: Apply White Vinegar and Dish Soap

Once you’ve removed as much of the liquid as possible, it’s time to apply a combination of white vinegar and dish soap. Using an old toothbrush, work the mixture into the stain in a circular motion. After a few minutes, rinse the fabric with cold water to remove any leftover residue.

Step Three: Use Hydrogen Peroxide

If the stain is still visible after following the first two steps, mix half a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with one teaspoon of baking soda. Work the paste into the stained area, let it sit for a few minutes, and then rinse it off with cold water.

Step Four: Check Stain

After using the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda mixture, check the stain to see if it has lightened. If the stain is still visible, repeat the process until it is completely gone.
