What You Will Need:
- White vinegar
- Dishwashing detergent
- Soft cloths
Steps to Remove the Stain:
- Check the fabric for color fastness before taking any steps to clean it. Place a few drops of vinegar on an unseen area of the garment and press with a cloth. If the color stays intact, you may proceed with cleaning.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of dishwashing detergent with 2 cups of cold water in a bowl. Dip a soft cloth in the mixture and use it to gently blot the stained area. Take care not to rub or scrub the stain or it could spread further.
- If the stain persists, rinse the cloth and apply undiluted white vinegar to the stain with a cloth. Blot the stain until the fabric is damp. Do not saturate the fabric.
- Rinse the cloth, then rinse the stained area with a cloth dampened with cold water. Continue to blot the stained area with the damp cloth until all of the detergent and vinegar is removed.
- Air dry the fabric by laying it flat or hanging it on a clothesline. Do not place the garment in a tumble dryer, as this could cause the stain to set.
Additional Tips:
- Treat stain as soon as possible. The longer the stain sits, the harder it will be to remove.
- Once the stain is removed, check the back of the fabric for any remaining residue. Rinse any remaining residue with cold water.
- To prevent further stains, always handle your Cornelli lace garments with clean hands and avoid contact with any food or drink.
