Sparkling wine is made by adding special yeast and sugar to the fermentation process of regular white or red wine. This process creates carbon dioxide bubbles, or “sparkle” in the sparkling wine. The downside is that these carbon dioxide bubbles also cause unwanted stains on fabrics and other surfaces.

But never fear! With the right supplies and some elbow grease, removing these pesky stains from clogs is actually quite simple. Here’s how:

Step 1: Gather Supplies

Before you start, you’ll need to gather a few items:

  • Cleaning cloths
  • Mild dish detergent
  • Water
  • White vinegar

Step 2: Clean the Clog

Dampen a cleaning cloth with some water and use it to gently rub off any remaining residue from the clog. Don’t scrub too hard, as this could damage the material.

Step 3: Make a Cleaning Solution

Mix together one tablespoon of mild dish detergent and one cup of warm water. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and use it to blot the stained area, rubbing gently.

Step 4: Treat the Stain with Vinegar

Mix one part white vinegar with two parts warm water. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and gently blot the stained area. You may need to repeat this step a few times until the stain has been removed.

Step 5: Rinse and Dry

Once the stain is gone, rinse the clog with clean water and then dry it with a clean cloth. Let the clog air-dry overnight before wearing.

And you’re done!

That’s all it takes to get sparkling wine stains out of clogs. Follow these steps and you’ll have your shoes looking good as new in no time.
