Chiffon is a lightweight fabric made up of loosely woven fabric threads. These threads are so delicate they can easily be damaged by any liquid, including sparkling wine. Therefore, it’s important to treat the stain as quickly as possible.
The first step is to gently dab fabric with a paper towel or clean cloth. This will help remove some of the liquid but won’t do much to remove the stain itself. The next step is to rinse out the stained area with cold water. This is best done by rinsing the stained area from the back side of the fabric, in order to push stain further away from the surface.
The third step is to apply a specialty detergent. This must be specially formulated for use on stains caused by wines and other liquids. Pour the detergent onto the stain and work it into the fabric using your fingertips. After a few minutes, rinse fabric with cold water. This should remove most of the stain.
If stain persists, then you may need to take a little extra effort. You can make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the stain. Leave the paste on the fabric for 20 minutes before rinsing with cold water. This should be enough to lift the stain.
Once you’ve removed the stain from the chiffon, you should launder the fabric as usual. This will ensure that no residues remain and that the fabric will look as good as new. If you take the time to follow these steps, you can be sure that your favorite chiffon garment will remain spotless.
