The best way to treat a sparkling wine stain is to act quickly. Blot the spill using a rag or paper towel to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing the stain, as this will only spread mess and make it harder to take care of.
Once the excess liquid is soaked up, grab a bar of soap and begin to work the sudsy lather into the stained area. For tougher stains, use a dampened toothbrush to help scrub soap into the fabric for a deep cleaning. Rinse the soap out with warm water and pat the fabric dry.
If the stain persists, try mixing equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and liquid dish soap. Working in a circular motion, use the mixture on the affected area. Be sure to test this solution on an inconspicuous part of the fabric first to make sure it won't cause discoloration.
For tough stains that just won't disappear, soak the fabric in a container filled with 1 cup of vinegar and 2 cups of water. Keep fabric submerged for at least 30 minutes before washing. The acid in the vinegar should help break up the stain.
Follow all of these steps and your favorite pair of Capris should be sparkling wine stain-free in no time. Just remember — the faster you act, the easier the stain will be to remove.
