Having a glass of bubbly can add the perfect touch to any celebration. However, if a little bit of sparkling wine spills onto your favorite button-down shirt, it can turn your special moment into a nightmare. Don’t worry – there are several techniques you can use to go from stained to stain-free.

First, use a paper towel to blot the stain as much as possible. Then, mix one part soap and four parts water together in a bowl. Take a clean, white cloth and wet it with the soapy solution. Blot the stain with this cloth, then let the shirt dry.
If the original method didn’t do the trick, you can try using a specialized stain removal product. Saturate the stained area with product, then let it sit according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Afterward, launder the shirt as usual.
Do not use a dryer to dry your shirt. Instead, hang it up to air dry. This will prevent the stain from setting permanently, and also prevent shrinkage associated with heat.
If you love to drink sparkling wine, one way to avoid future stain emergencies is to wear an apron or bib when consuming this beverage. This way, most of the bubbles will end up on bib instead of your shirt.
