Steps for Cleaning the Stain

  1. Act fast. As soon as the spill happens, take a dry, clean cloth and dab away any excess liquid from the anorak.
  2. Mix one teaspoon of liquid dish detergent with two cups of lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water since this can set the stain and make it harder to remove.
  3. Dip a clean, white cloth into the soapy water and gently scrub the stained area. Make sure not to scrub too hard — be gentle!
  4. Rinse the area with cold water. Pour the cold water on the cloth and use it to rinse away the soapy residue.
  5. Dab area with a dry cloth until it is completely dry.

If the stain persists, mix one tablespoon of ammonia to two cups of cold water, then dip a clean cloth into the mixture and continue scrubbing the spot. Once the stain is gone, be sure to rinse the area with cold water and dry off with a cloth.

Tips for Preventing Future Stains

  • Be sure to treat your anorak with a water-repellant spray every few months.
  • Place a napkin or coaster under your drink to avoid spills on your anorak.
  • If you do accidentally spill something on your anorak, act quickly and always use cold water.
