Step 1: Blot up the Stain

Start by blotting up as much of the sparkling wine as you can with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub or scrub the stain, as this could cause it to spread and set into the fabric.

Step 2: Soak the Garment in Cold Water

Fill your sink or a bucket with cold water, and add a teaspoon of laundry detergent. Submerge garment and let it soak for about 20 minutes. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 3: Rinse with Cold Water

After soaking, rinse the garment in cool water. Avoid using too hot of water, as this can cause the stain to set even more firmly into the fabric.

Step 4: Pretreat With Dish Soap

To really tackle that stubborn stain, pretreat it with a few drops of dish soap and some cool water. Rub the stained area with your fingertips in a circular motion to work the soap into the fabric. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing.

Step 5: Launder as Usual

Finally, launder the garment as you usually would in the washing machine. If the stain still remains, repeat previous steps until it is gone.

Now you’re equipped with the knowledge of how to get those pesky sparkling wine stains out of your American Eagle clothing!
