When it comes to removing stains from alpaca fabric, it's important to be gentle. Strong detergents or harsh scrubbing can damage delicate fibers. Here are the steps you'll need to take for a sparkling wine stain:

  • Act quickly. The sooner you clean the stain, the easier it will be to remove.
  • Blot the area with a clean microfiber cloth to absorb as much of liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing, as this can spread the stain.
  • Mix a solution of lukewarm water and a mild detergent like Woolite. Dip a sponge into the solution and gently dab the stain.
  • Rinse the area with another cloth dampened with plain water. Blot dry with a third clean cloth.
  • If the stain is still present, mix a paste of baking soda and water. Apply to the stain and let sit for one hour.
  • Rinse the area with a damp cloth, then blot dry. If the stain persists, repeat the process.

If nothing seems to help, take your item to a professional cleaner for advice. After you've removed stain, remember to hang your alpaca item up to dry. Don't put it in the dryer, as this could cause shrinkage.
