Step 1: Blot the Stain

First, take a clean white cloth and gently blot the stained area. You don't want to rub stain too hard, or else it could spread out. Use a light patting motion, and continue blotting until you have soaked up as much of the sparkling wine as possible.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Once you have blotted stain, it's time to make a cleaning solution. In a bowl, combine a cup of warm water with two tablespoons of laundry detergent. Stir the mixture until the detergent is dissolved.

Step 3: Apply the Solution to Stain

Next, use a clean white cloth to apply the cleaning solution to the stained area. Start at the edges of the stain, then spread the solution outward. Once the stain has been completely covered, let the solution sit for 10 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse with Water

Once the cleaning solution has done its job, rinse away any residue with cold water. Use a clean cloth or sponge to wipe away any remaining detergent. Then, place the abaya in the washing machine and wash it on the delicate cycle.

Tips for Keeping Abayas Clean

  • Always check clothing labels to make sure you are following the correct care instructions.
  • Wash new abayas separately from older items.
  • If the abaya is heavily soiled, pre-treat the stains before washing.
  • Never put abayas in the dryer, as the heat could damage the fabric.
