If you love Chinese food, chances are you’ve experienced the frustration of having a soy sauce stain on your clothes. Superficial soy sauce stains can be removed by dabbing the affected area with a cloth soaked in cold water, then dabbing the area with a solution of laundry detergent and cold water. Blot the area gently, then rinse with cold water.

But if stain is more stubborn, there are a few steps you can take to get it out:

  • Soak garment in a solution of laundry detergent and cold water for about half an hour.
  • Scrub the stained area gently with a soft brush or cloth.
  • Mix two tablespoons of salt with one quart of hot water and add it to the garment. Soak for at least one hour. Make sure the garment is completely submerged in the solution.
  • Rinse the garment with cool water.
  • If there is still a stain remaining, mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with one pint of cold water and apply it to stain. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes before rinsing off.
  • Repeat this process until the stain has been removed.
  • Once stain is gone, machine wash garment as usual.

By following these steps, you should be able to remove stubborn soy sauce stains from your clothes easily and quickly!
