Step 1: Pre-Treat with Detergent

Before you start trying to remove the soy sauce stain, pre-treat the area with your preferred detergent. Laundry detergent usually works best with spot-cleaning. You can use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the detergent into the fabric. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 2: Use Cold Water and Vinegar

After pre-treating the area, it's time to tackle the stain itself. Make a mixture of one part white vinegar to four parts cold water. Using a cloth, dip it in the solution and gently dab the affected area. You can also use a soft-bristle brush to lightly scrub the stain. Don't scrub too hard as this could damage the fabric.

Step 3: Rinse with Cold Water

Once you've finished scrubbing the stain, rinse area with cold water. Make sure all of the vinegar solution has been removed. Let tent or camping gear air-dry before using it again.
