Accidentally spilling soy sauce on your favorite shoes can be a real pain, but all is not lost! Here are some tips to help you get rid of those stubborn soy sauce stains.
Before you start the cleaning process, it’s important to identify the type of fabric your Supergas are made from. Generally, Supergas are made from canvas material, so that’s what we’ll assume here. They are also available in leather and suede varieties.
Once you know the type of fabric, it’s time to start cleaning! Blot the stained area with a damp cloth in order to absorb as much of soy sauce as possible. Do not scrub stain or rub the material – this will only make it worse.
Next, soak the stained area with warm water and a gentle detergent or dish soap. Gently massage the solution into the fabric and allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes to give it some time to work its magic.
After the solution has sat for 10 minutes, rinse the stain with clean, warm water. Do not scrub the area. Once the water runs clear, you’re all done!
Finally, allow the stained area to air dry. Do not put the Supergas in the dryer, as this will set the stain and make it even harder to remove.
Spills happen, but there are some measures you can take to prevent them from happening in the first place. One way is to spray entire shoe with a stain protector before wearing them. This will help repel liquids and make it easier to clean up any potential messes.
