The best way to remove soy sauce from fabric depends on the type of fabric. Here are some techniques for removing soy sauce from different fabrics:

  • For fabrics like silk, rayon, viscose, nylon or polyester, start by blotting the area with a clean, white cloth or paper towel. You want to get as much of the soy sauce out as possible. The next step is to mix a small amount of laundry detergent with lukewarm water. Dip an old toothbrush in the detergent mixture and gently rub it into the stain. This will help to lift it out without damaging the fabric. Finally, rinse the area with cold water and let it air dry.
  • For thicker fabrics like cotton, linens and denim, use a mild laundry detergent or soap and gently scrub the stain with a damp cloth or sponge. After that, rinse thoroughly with cold water and let it air dry.
  • If the soy sauce stain is still there after cleaning, apply a stain remover like Shout or Spray n Wash to the stain. Rinse it off and let it air dry.

Once the area is dry, you’ll want to check to make sure the stain is gone before throwing the skirt in wash. If it still remains, try repeating the steps above. If that doesn’t work, it might be time to take the skirt in to a professional cleaner.

Removing soy sauce stains from clothing doesn’t have to be a chore. With a few simple steps, you can quickly and easily remove soy sauce stains from skirts and other clothing items.
