What You Will Need

  • Clean, lint-free rag or sponge
  • Dishwashing soap
  • White vinegar
  • Cold water
  • Iron

Instructions

Start by gathering your supplies and testing them first on an inconspicuous spot. Then, gently blot the stain with a clean, lint-free rag or sponge and warm water.

If the stain persists, mix a few drops of dishwashing soap with warm water and spray it on the affected area. Let it sit for a few minutes and then blot it off with a cloth. For darker colored fabrics, lightly rub the fabric together with the cloth to ensure the stain is gone.

If the stain still remains, make a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts cold water. Spray it onto the stain and let it sit for about 10 minutes. After that, rinse off the area with a damp cloth and let fabric air dry.

Once it’s dry, use a low-heat setting iron to heat up area. This will help to set fabric once more and reduce the chances of the stain re-appearing. Lastly, hang up the curtain in its original spot and enjoy your clean curtains.
