The most important thing to remember when dealing with soy sauce stains is to act quickly and not let the stain set. The sooner you start the stain removal process, the better your chances of success.

Start by blotting stained area of the fabric with a paper towel to remove any excess soy sauce. Then, mix a solution of one part white vinegar to four parts cold water, and soak the spot for 10-15 minutes. This will help to break down the stain.

Once time is up, rinse the garment with cold water and blot dry. To finish, sprinkle the area with talcum powder to further absorb the stain, and then brush away the powder. Repeat this process if necessary.

Afterwards, check the care instructions to make sure it is safe to machine wash garment. If so, add one cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle and then launder in cold water. Hang to dry. If the care instructions prohibit machine washing, take the garment to a professional dry cleaner.
