What You'll Need
- White paper towels
- Mild liquid detergent or dishwashing soap
- A bowl filled halfway with cold water
- Vinegar
- Ammonia
- Borax powder
- Hydrogen peroxide
- A clean cloth
Steps to Take
- Start by gently blotting stain with white paper towels, being careful not to rub or scrub the stain as it may spread. Be sure to start from the outside of the stain and work inward to prevent spreading.
- Mix a teaspoon of mild liquid detergent or dishwashing soap with a cup of cold water in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth into the solution, wring it out and use it to lightly dab stained area, again starting from the outside of the stain and working your way in.
- Now mix one part white vinegar and one part cold water in another bowl. Soak a clean cloth in this solution, wring it out and use it to dab the stain. Repeat this until the stain has disappeared.
- If stain is still there, mix 1/2 teaspoon of ammonia with 1 cup of cold water in a third bowl. Again, soak a clean cloth in the solution, wring it out and use it to dab the stain. If the stain persists, try making a paste of Borax powder and cold water and applying it directly to the stain. Let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it off.
- If all else fails, try using hydrogen peroxide. Soak a clean cloth in the solution and dab it on the stain until it's gone. Be sure to rinse the fabric thoroughly afterwards to remove any remaining residue.
