The first step in cleaning a soy sauce stain from silk is to immediately blot the area with a damp cloth. Do not rub the stain, as rubbing could damage delicate fibers of the fabric. Repeat this step until the stain is absorbed as much as possible.
Once the excess soy sauce has been blotted, use a mild detergent to lather the stained area with cold water. Massage the area gently to ensure the detergent reaches the heart of stain. Rinse with cold water and then lather again. Once done, rinse with cold water once more and pat dry with a towel.
If stain still persists after the previous steps, mix a tablespoon of lemon juice, a tablespoon of white vinegar, and a cup of cold water. Dip a cotton pad in this mixture and dab the affected area. Allow the mixture to sit for about ten minutes before rinsing with cold water.
