Soy sauce has a habit of ruining our favorite outfits, especially if they are made of shearling. Shearling, being a delicate material, is prone to staining. But there is a simple way to clean soy sauce stains from shearling that doesn't require harsh chemicals.

When it comes to stain removal, prevention is better than cure. Therefore, the best way to remove soy sauce stains is to act as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more time the liquid will have to sink into the fabric, making it more difficult to get rid of the stain.

Steps to Clean Soy Sauce Stains from Shearling

  1. Take some cold water and dab the spot with a white cloth. Do not rub, just press gently against the stained area.
  2. Mix one tablespoon of mild dish soap with two cups of cold water.
  3. Dip a white cloth in soapy solution and dab the stained area of shearling.
  4. Rinse the cloth each time and repeat the dabbing motion until the stain is no longer visible.
  5. Once the stain is gone, rinse the entire area with cold water and let it air dry.

Be very careful not to rub or scrub area, as this can damage the material. Gently dabbing stained area should be enough to get rid of the stain.

If the stain persists, try using a mixture of one tablespoon of white vinegar and two cups of cold water. Dab stain with the cloth soaked in the vinegar and rinse with cold water when done.

Alternatively, you can use a mild detergent designed for washing delicate fabrics. But make sure the detergent you are using does not contain bleach.

Tips for Keeping Soy Sauce Stains from Shearling Away

  • It's always better to use a napkin or a piece of cloth to wipe off any spills and stains as soon as they occur.
  • Keep some baking soda handy. If you spill something on your shearling, sprinkle some baking soda on the spot and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it off.
  • Avoid using chemical cleaners as they can cause discoloration and damage the fabric. Stick to natural remedies.

With these tips and tricks, you can easily get rid of soy sauce stains from your shearling garments without having to worry about damaging the fabric. So the next time you accidentally spill some soy sauce, follow the steps we mentioned above and you’ll be able to restore your favorite shearling garment back to its former glory.
