The first step in removing a soy sauce stain from a silk sari is to blot the stained area immediately with a clean, dry cloth. This will help absorb as much of the stain as possible and prevent it from setting in further.
Mix equal parts of water and laundry detergent in a bowl or container until it forms a paste-like consistency. Dip a clean cloth into mixture and dab it onto the stain, working it in a circular motion. Be sure to use a white cloth and not a colored one, as the dye from the cloth could transfer to your sari.
Once you've applied the detergent mixture, let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. Use a separate cloth soaked in warm water to rinse off the detergent and the stain. Repeat this process several times until the stain is removed.
If the stain is still present after washing with detergent and rinsing with warm water, the next step is to apply a stain remover specifically made for silk. Follow the instructions on the product, being careful not to let it sit too long or use too much. Rinse with cool water after applying the stain remover.
After removing the stain, allow sari to air dry. Do not attempt to iron or dry clean your sari, as this could cause the stain to set in further.
