The most important step when dealing with any clothing stain is to act quickly. As soon as you notice the soy sauce stain, your goal should be to get it off the shirt as soon as possible.
Once you spot stain, grab a paper towel and gently blot the area around stain. Do not rub or scrub stain; this will just spread it and make it harder to remove. Blotting stain will help absorb some of the moisture and reduce the size of the stain.
Create a cleaning solution by mixing one part liquid dish soap with two parts lukewarm water. Place a cloth in the solution and let it soak for a few minutes. Once the cloth has soaked long enough, wring it out and begin to dab the stain with the cloth.
If the stain is still present after one application, rinse the cloth and reapply the cleaning solution. Keep repeating this process until the stain has been removed.
After the stain has been completely removed, you should put the shirt in washing machine for a full cycle. Make sure to use cold water and a mild detergent when washing the shirt.
Once the wash cycle is complete, take the shirt out of washing machine and lay it flat on a drying rack or towel. Do not put the shirt in dryer; air-drying will help prevent the soy sauce from permanently staining fabric.
By following the steps outlined above, you can successfully remove soy sauce stains from your polo shirt. Keep in mind that acting quickly and using a gentle cleaning solution are key to removing stain as safely and effectively as possible.
