Soy sauce is an incredibly versatile ingredient, but it can also be a headache if it gets onto the wrong material, like peau de soie. The good news is that it is not impossible to remove soy sauce stains from this delicate fabric.

The first step to removing a soy sauce stain from peau de soie is to act quickly. Blot the spill with a paper towel or a cloth napkin, taking care not to rub the fabric and potentially spread the stain further.
The next step is to make a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts cool water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and dab it over the stained area, and then rinse the fabric with cool water.
If the stain persists, create a cleaning mixture by combining one teaspoon of a mild, color-safe detergent with two cups of lukewarm water. Dab the cloth into the mixture and rub it gently onto the stain. Rinse the fabric again with cool water.
If the stain still won’t come out, try using a solvent-based stain remover specifically designed for peau de soie, such as trichloroethylene. Use this remover according to the instructions on the package and then rinse with cool water.
Finally, blot the stained area with a dry cloth and allow the fabric to air dry. If necessary, go over the fabric with a handheld clothing steamer or a hand-held steamer to help relax the fibers.
