Soy sauce is a dangerous adversary for any fabric, but especially linen. The natural fiber is much more porous than other materials like cotton, so the stain will cling to it for much longer. Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can take to help get the job done.

Steps for Cleaning Soy Sauce Stains from Linen:

  1. Start by dabbing the area with a paper towel or cloth to absorb as much of sauce as possible.
  2. Mix one tablespoon of dish soap and two cups of warm water in a bowl. Then, dip a white cloth in the mixture and use it to gently scrub the stained area in a circular motion.
  3. Rinse the area with cold water. Repeat the process if necessary.
  4. Soak the fabric in a solution of one part white vinegar and one part cold water for 30 minutes.
  5. Rinse off the garment in cold water once more and hang it up to dry.

After following these steps, your linen should be looking good as new. Do keep in mind that soy sauce stains can be difficult to remove, so it’s always best to act right away.
