The first thing you should do is carefully remove any remaining soy sauce from the surface of the shoe with a cloth or tissue, being careful to use gentle strokes so as not to spread the stain any further. You can then try tackling the stain using a few different methods.

Method 1 - Dish Soap

Mix together some warm water and a little dish soap and apply it to the area, gently working it into a lather. You can use a toothbrush to work soap into the material. Leave to stand for around 10 minutes, then wash off with cold water and repeat if necessary.

Method 2 - White Vinegar

Yes, you read that right - white vinegar is a surprisingly effective solution for removing soy sauce stains. Soak a cloth in some white vinegar, and dab at the stain, being careful not to rub the area too much. Leave on for around 10 minutes, then rinse off with cold water. Repeat the process if required.

Method 3 - Baking Soda

Mix together some baking soda and water until it forms a paste. Apply paste to stain and leave it to sit for around 15 minutes. Using a clean cloth or a toothbrush, lightly scrub the area, then rinse off with cold water. Repeat as necessary.

Whichever method you choose, you should allow your shoes to air-dry completely before wearing them. Once your shoes are dry, you can then apply a leather protector to help keep them looking as good as new.
