The first thing you want to do when you have a soy sauce stain is to act fast. The faster you take action the better chance you’ll have of getting rid of the stain. Try and soak up as much of soy sauce as you can with a paper towel or kitchen roll, then dab the area dry.
Once you’ve blotted away as much of the soy sauce as you can, it’s time to apply some detergent to the affected area. You can either use an enzyme-based detergent, or a regular detergent that has recently been put through the washing machine. Try and mix a small amount of detergent with warm water, then use a cloth or sponge to blot the stain gently.
White vinegar is a great way to remove stubborn soy sauce stains from jeans. Mix a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts warm water, then use a cloth to blot the stain until it is gone. This method might not work if the stain has already set deep into fabric.
If the stain persists after using detergent and white vinegar, try washing the jeans in the machine. Start by pre-treating the stain with detergent and letting it soak for about 10 minutes before putting the jeans into the washing machine then add a detergent with bleach-free colour safe ingredients. You should then set the washing machine to the maximum temperature for fabric you are washing. Once the jeans have gone through the complete cycle, inspect them for any remaining stain.
Removing soy sauce stains from jeans doesn’t have to be a nightmare. By following these four steps you will be able to successfully remove any stain caused by soy sauce. Remember, acting fast and using white vinegar are key to removing difficult stains.
