Step 1: Blot the Stains

Start by blotting the stains with a cloth or paper towel. Avoid rubbing the stained area, as this will only spread stain and cause it to be more difficult to remove. Keep blotting until as much of the soy sauce as possible has been absorbed into the paper towel or cloth.

Step 2: Create a Cleaning Solution

Mix one teaspoon of liquid dish detergent with one cup of warm water. Dip the cloth or paper towel into cleaning solution and then apply it on the stained area. Blot the area gently to work the solution into the fabric. Rinse the cloth with clear water and continue blotting the area until all soap has been removed.

Step 3: Apply Stain Remover

If the soy sauce stain is still present, apply a commercial stain remover to affected area. Follow the instructions on the product label, and be sure to rinse the area thoroughly with water afterwards. If the stain persists, repeat these steps until the stain has been removed.

Preventing Future Stains

To prevent future stains, always use a protective cover when cooking with soy sauce or any other food. This will protect your clothing from any spills and splatters.
