Step One: Act Fast

The key to removing a soy sauce stain is reacting quickly. Since soy sauce is water based, it will soak into fabric and the stain will become harder to remove if it's allowed to set. As soon as you notice the spill, grab a cloth or tissue and blot the area gently to absorb as much of sauce as possible.

Step Two: Pre-treatment

Once you've blotted the area, pre-treat the stain by spraying the affected area with a pre-wash solutions such as Shout™, Zout™, or Spray 'n Wash™. Wait until the pre-wash solution has had sufficient time to work its magic before moving onto the next step.

Step Three: Washing

Now you can wash the dress as normal. Make sure to use a gentle detergent, such as Woolite™, and stick to the recommended washing machine temperatures for fabric. When the cycle is finished, inspect the garment for any remaining stains.

Step Four: Further Cleaning

If you still find that the stain remains, it's time to bring out big guns. You can use a product specifically designed for tougher stains, such as Wine Away™, Buncha Farmers™, Stain Devil™ or OxiClean™. Follow the instructions on the package to apply the product, and then rinse the area with warm water. The stain should be gone after this step!
