As soon as you notice any soy sauce stains on your cotton denim, first step is to try and soak up as much of liquid as possible. The best way to do this is to take a few damp paper towels or a cloth and press the material together against the stain. This should help to absorb some of the moisture and make it easier to clean later on.
The next step is to pre-treat the stain with a gentle laundry detergent. It’s important to choose a detergent that is specifically intended for delicate fabrics, as regular detergents can be too abrasive for cotton denim. Take a little bit of the detergent and rub it into the stain. Once you’ve worked it in, let the detergent sit for a few minutes before moving onto the next step.
Now that you’ve pre-treated stain, you’re ready to put the item in the washing machine. Make sure to check the care label before washing to ensure that you’re using the correct temperature setting and cycle type for your denim fabric. Once the cycle is complete, be sure to check the garment for any remaining stains—if any remain, you may need to repeat the pre-treatment and washing steps again.
Once the washing is complete, you’ll need to dry the garment in order to completely remove the stain. Put the garment in the dryer on the lowest heat setting and run until the garment is fully dry. If there are still traces of the stain left behind, you may need to repeat Steps 2 and 3 again until the stain has completely disappeared.
With the right technique and cleaning products, it’s easy to remove soy sauce stains from cotton denim! Just remember to always read the care label before washing and drying, and to pre-treat any stains before putting in washing machine.
