Removing Soy Sauce Stains from Calico

First, read care label on the garment before starting any cleaning process.

  1. Start by blotting the stained area with a dry cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of soy sauce as possible.
  2. Mix one tablespoon of dishwashing detergent with two cups of cold water.
  3. Dip a clean rag into the mixture and wring it well.
  4. Gently dab the mixture onto stained area until the stain starts to lift.
  5. Rinse the area with cold water and repeat process until stain is gone.
  6. Soak the fabric in a bucket of cold water with a teaspoon of washing powder for a few hours (or overnight if necessary).
  7. Finally, machine wash the garment following care label instructions.

Preventative Care Measures for Calico

To prevent further stains, use a liquid water repellent spray on the calico fabric before using it. This will help repel liquids like soy sauce.

Finally, be sure to blot any spills right away with a cloth or paper towel and let the fabric air dry before using it again.
